Doppler & Hemodynamics

The physics of flow measurement and the hemodynamics behind it: the Doppler equation and insonation angle, PW/CW and aliasing, spectral/color/power Doppler, and the Bernoulli/continuity quantification used across vascular and echo. Doppler is ~34% of the SPI exam.

  1. 1The Doppler Equation & Insonation Angle~35 minThe Doppler shift, why it is doubled, the all-important cos θ term, why angles > 60° are unreliable, and angle-correction technique.SPIVascularAdult Echo
  2. 2Hemodynamics: Poiseuille, Continuity & Bernoulli~40 minThe flow physics behind Doppler interpretation: laminar vs turbulent flow and the Reynolds number, Poiseuille's r⁴ law, the continuity equation, and the simplified Bernoulli equation (ΔP = 4v²) with its limits.SPIVascularAdult Echo
